10 Best Table Saw Under 500 Reviews

You know you want them. Now, you get to decide which one you may choose to add to your workshop with this review.

1. Hitachi C10RJ 10 Inch 15-Amp Jobsite Table Saw

No products found.

If you look at marketplace trends, you will notice that a professional table saw should feature 10-inch blades. In case of the Hitachi C10RJ, the popular brand has added15-amp motors to power these blades. You will also find well-aligned wheels and an excellent stand to support the whole mechanism.

Using its motors, it gives out 4,500 revolutions per minute or RPM. It features an electric brake and an overload sensor that protects it from external damage. You will also find a power switch featuring an emergency off safety cover to give additional protection to many parts of the saw.

When you couple the motor with the saw tipped with 40 carbide teeth, you will realize that Hitachi intended for this saw to do more than cut rough lumber. They wanted you to be able to go through harder wood and get cleaner finishes.

One of the features we liked was the table. While other brands provide you with smaller spaces, Hitachi gives you a 28-3/4″ x 22″ working table top. The top can extend to a 35″ rip capacity to the right and 22″ rip capacity to the left.

Space is just what we need for many of our woodworking demands, and Hitachi conveniently provided us just that.

However, the feature that sticks out of this table saw is the fold and roll stand. It provides you with the convenience to transform the saw into a cart with 8-inch rubber wheels that you can transport easily.

The stand also offers storage for accessories and even sustains the saw for storage. It was like watching a cool transformer movie: only this time, an entire workstation folds into a convenient trolley-like setup.

What We Like:
  • Fold and roll stand provides convenient transport
  • Extendable top
  • Excellent blade
  • Precision
What We Didn’t Like:
  • No mention of blade adjustments in the manual
  • Bevel lock level may wear down quite easily

2. Delta Power Tools 36-6020 10 Inch Portable Table Saw with Stand

When it comes to table saws, Delta Power is not usually that name which is all known. However, that does not imply that you will be getting an under-quality product. This Delta’s portable model is still packed with numerous unique features and gives you enough reasons to make you invest in the equipment.

These features combined with the quality the table offers is what we will be aiming to bring out in this review.

It is paramount that when you are cutting wood and other materials on your table saw, you are probably aspiring to do it on a suitable surface. Luckily, Delta Power’s aluminum table provides you with just that smooth and durable surface.

The table also has an extension. While it might not provide you as much space as the Hitachi does, it still provides you with additional room.

However, all of these features and additions cannot compare to one of the most vital requirements of a saw, safety. Delta Power gives you easy access to a big red button that you can hit in the event of an emergency.

We still feel that more safety features are required, but we think the company was aiming to bring convenience to both amateurs and veterans. Who does not understand the use of a big red button after all?

Cleaning the table is convenient which we like. Delta Power Tools allows you to retract the blade beneath the table, after which you can quickly clean the surface.

What We Like:
  • The all-metal surface adds durability
  • Can perform Dado cuts
  • Table provides extension
  • Easy to clean
What We Didn’t Like:
  • The measurement system for extension is not very accurate
  • Front and back locking for the fence
  • Slightly inaccurate blade height adjustment

3. DEWALT DWE7480XA 10 in. Portable Table Saw with Table Saw Stand

The first thing that you will see or instead feel is the weight of the box. Or the lack thereof in this case. The equipment is light. In fact, we were surprised when we discovered that it weighs just around 40 pounds (or approximately 18 kilograms). That is light, and we feel that the weight makes the tool convenient for transport.

After you unpack the table, the set-up is as easy as reading a book. Perhaps not that simple. But you get our point.

You merely have to attach the fence, install the guard, and you are good to go. When you are on the field or moving around, this simplicity may prove to be a vital feature for you.

Dewalt has an accurate fence system. It is evident with the pinion and rack adjustments along with a robust locking mechanism. We feel that the stability of the fence competes with other brands in the market, especially considering that Dewalt is a small site saw.

With the portability this table provides, it had to make a few sacrifices in the stability department, which becomes evident with the rip capacity of a 24″ wide sheet. The capacity is satisfactory, but supporting it was not pretty.

If you intend to rip large sheets, you might require a good stand and additional hands. But for most tasks, we found that this table does the job just perfectly.

What We Like:
  • Solid performer
  • Lightweight and portable
  • Easy to set up
  • Outstanding quality
What We Didn’t Like:
  • Not suitable for large sheet materials
  • The in-feed length is rather short

4. WEN 3720 15A 10 Inch Jobsite Table Saw with Rolling Stand

Wen is a well-known name in the power tools industry with having over 60 years of experience. They have one goal in mind; to provide the most efficient tools at an affordable price. But does that translate well with the 3720 Jobsite? Let us find out.

We tried out this portable table saw and noticed that it could get through boards easily. Of course, we had it tried 3-9/16” thick boards. You can bevel the blade on a range from zero to forty-five degrees. The arrangement seems to do the job for most of our woodworking needs.

You have able extensions on either side that can provide you with a working space of up to 40” x 30”, which you will be able to use to support even large pieces of wood. The table gives you onboard storage and a dust port to optimize organization and cleanliness.

We particularly loved the fact that the table gives you a solid fence that clings comfortably. It is also adjacent to the blade, giving you precise results every time.

The model was compact while also maintaining its reliability, which makes the whole setup accessible. A strong fence guides the boards in a level line, while a rip stick provides you with safety. You will also notice a miter gauge as a bonus feature, giving you all the convenience of an accurate cut.

What We Like:
  • Accurate
  • Lightweight
  • Compatible with dado blades
What We Didn’t Like:
  • Manual does not give clear instructions
  • Not enough onboard storage

5. Bosch GTS103 10-Inch Portable Jobsite Table Saw

Can it be possible to make a table saw that is compact and also provides you with sufficient power? Bosch thinks it can. Let us find out.

The GTS1031 is not just compact, but also relatively light. At only 52 pounds (approximately 23.5 kilograms), you can carry this table using one hand (though it might be slightly heavy for some).

Typically, the size and weight do not paint a favorable picture regarding the power of the machine. In this regards, Bosch has done a splendid job.

A 15-amp motor powers the GTS1031, which means you can use this machine on hardwoods as well. We discovered that it could cut as deep as 3-1/8″ at a right angle. When we switched it to a 45-degree angle, we were able to cut as thick as 2-1/4″. This power allowed us to work on a  wide variety of woodworking projects.

Of course, another question arises at this very moment. Is Bosch durable? Well, let us tell you that it entirely is.

We know that while we are working on these tools, we do tend to throw a little force on them. But we noticed something remarkable about GTS1031. The table saw is built around a steel base making it durable. However, what surprised us was the fact that the tool even took a bit of punishment we threw at it.

Safety is paramount, as they say. GTS1031 adds a riving knife to keep you protected from kickbacks. You can also attach a blade guard, so you don’t come into contact with the blade itself.

What We Like:
  • Compact and lightweight
  • Powerful engine
  • Durable
What We Didn’t Like:
  • Not very accurate
  • The engine can be surprisingly loud

6. Rockwell RK7241S Table Saw with Laser

No products found.

No products found.

Portable saws are typically less powered than their cabinet versions. However, as you can see from this list, brands do focus more on power.

In that regard, we have come across a portable table saw that does not forfeit on power, and even adds laser precision as a bonus. With this extra, you can take full advantage of laser technology to add accuracy to your cuts. How awesome is that?

A 15-amp motor handles the power of this unit. The blade spins at 4,800 RPM allowing you to do some spectacular cutting on the hardwood and pressure-treated lumber.

Its rip capacity is an incredible 30 inches when you extend the fold-out fence entirely. You can also add 11 inches on the left side of the table.

Now we know you are eager to know about this laser technology. Rockwell provides you with LaserGuide, where an accurate cut line indicator makes sure that you can cut with maximum precision.

That’s not all. There is little manual work required here as the line of the laser automatically adjusts to the arrangement of the blades. We think it is a fantastic idea if you are looking to make bevel cuts.

With so much power and features packed into this table, you will find that it is easy to operate. Finally, we have one more feature we love to mention. It is a minor adjustment, but it just makes the entire design economical.

While most table saws include wheels on the legs of the stand, Rockwell has attached its wheels to the left side of the unit. When you extend the leg, it doubles as a handle allowing you to transport the saw with ease.

What We Like:
  • Economical design
  • Packed with incredible features
  • LaserGuide is a useful addition
  • Does not sacrifice portability to power
What We Didn’t Like:
  • Requires a bit of adjustment to setup everything
  • Takes time to straighten the fence
  • Dust bag does not collect dust properly
  • Might need a finer saw

7. DEWALT DWE7480 10 in. Compact Job Site Table Saw

No products found.

No products found.

We are fully aware that there are two Dewalt products on this list. Your attention will immediately notice that the two seem to be relatively the same product. However, while the significant features of the two Dewalt versions are like trying to compare identical twins, the Site-Pro throws in a few additional features.

What’s the catch, you ask?

Well, the Site-Pro is moderately heavier, at 45 pounds (roughly 20 kilograms). The increase in weight is not substantial, and if you can lift the DWE7480XA, then you should have no trouble carrying the Site-Pro around.

With the added weight, the Site-Pro brings benefits in other areas.

This version of the table saw features a redesigned 15-amp motor. Dewalt has changed this so that you can carry more power in your hands. You are now able to rip through hardwoods easily, something that was not possible with the previous version.

The redesign also supplies you with an additional cutting capacity. You will also notice the inclusion of a 2-1/4 inch dust collection port on the unit. You can connect these ports to a shop vac for collecting dust efficiently.

In our opinion, always consider the projects you are working on, so you will understand which of the two Dewalt models fit your needs. While one has additional features, it is also slightly more substantial in terms of weight.

Apart from that, you will find all the features of the DWE7480XA.

The blade gives you 4,800 RPM, and at 10 inches in diameter, it will fit most of your woodworking assignments. Its depth of cut at a right angle is 3-1/8 inches. If you shift it to 45 degrees, you will get a depth of cut of 2-1/4 inches.

You might have read from our review of the DWE7480XA that you might require a good stand and an additional stand to rip larger sheets. With the Site-Pro, you might not have to make those additions or adjustments.

What We Like:
  • Redesigned 15-amp motor
  • Additional cutting capacity
  • Dust collection port
What We Didn’t Like:
  • Slightly heavier than its predecessor
  • Adds only a few more features

8. SKILSAW SPT70WT-01 10 In. Portable Worm Drive Table Saw

No products found.

No products found.

Not a lot of people know about Skilsaw. But we think that a lot of people should look at this point. The manufacturer is known in the market to bringing in quality power tools. Today, we will be examining its contribution to the table saw family, the SPT70WT-01.

Skilsaw has packed the table with a 15-amp motor and an RPM rate of 5,300. Along with a powerful 25-inch rip capacity and a depth of cut of 3 ½ inches, you can approach any job confidently with enough power.

Skilsaw provides you with what they like to call the “Diablo blade.” We wanted to know how much the name suits the part, and to our surprise, found out that we could make cuts straight as an arrow.

The rip-fence and miter gauge that comes with the table is of high quality, giving the protection required. The table itself is relatively lightweight, although there are other brands on this list that provide lighter options. At just 49 pounds (about 22 kilograms), carrying the table around will not be an issue.

We also loved the fact that there was minimal vibration when we were cutting. To our surprise, we encountered less sound than other table saws. It might not indicate a substantial addition, but the relative smoothness and quietness is a mark of good quality, and a feature we think a lot of you will come to welcome.

With all of the above features, we can recommend Skilsaw for both veterans and DIYers. However, we did find out that the initial setup was a relatively lengthy process. With convenience being the name of the game, this might not appeal to those who perform woodworking projects regularly.

What We Like:
  • Great power
  • Minimal vibrations and less sound
  • Incredible accuracy
  • Onboard accessory storage is convenient
What We Didn’t Like:
  • Lengthy setup
  • Needs a bit of adjustment before use
  • Blade quality is not good enough
  • Does not come with a stand

9. Tacklife PTSG1A 10-Inch Table Saw with 40X20 inch Max Extendable Work Table

No products found.

No products found.

The Tacklife is reasonably heavy. At 57 pounds (nearly 25 kilograms), we found that it is heavier than the other table saws on this list. We were hoping for a bit more power for that weight.

However, we received a 15-amp motor and 4,800 RPM. While it is not extremely impressive (again, while comparing it with the weight of the table), it is still powerful enough to rip through most construction materials.

Professionals and newcomers to woodworking will both appreciate the onboard storage. This allows you to access the rip fence and miter gauge easily.

Where the weight is an issue, the features are not. The Tacklife includes an Overload Protection system. We loved this as it ensured that it could correctly handle cutting made through cold or damp wood.

It allows you to control your cutting angle and depth. While we are at depth, let’s say that we found the table to provide an impressive depth of 3-1/8 inches at zero degrees and an incredible 2-1/4 inch at 45 degrees.

Rip capacity is remarkable, giving you a maximum capacity of 24 inches to the right and 12 inches to the left. And did someone say dust port?

If that is what you want, Tacklife has already served your case. The table comes accompanied by the 2.5-inch dust port for easy cleanup. You also get a blade guard, overload protection, and a push stick for convenience.

Sadly, you will have to purchase the stand separately, which we were not too fond of a lot. But oh well, one cannot have everything we suppose.

What We Like:
  • The cutting depth and angle control can be adjusted
  • Blade guard system and overload protection
What We Didn’t Like:
  • Can be slightly loud for specific users
  • The design felt a bit bulky to us

10. DEWALT DW745 10-Inch Compact Job-Site Table Saw

No products found.

No products found.

They say that the third time is the charm. However, with the Dewalt, all three models on this list (including this one) are charmers.

With this model, we are looking at something that provides an excellent solution for people who want to have an affordable piece of equipment with a fair amount of features. Dewalt delivers everything you’ll require for a mid-sized project.

It is reasonably lightweight at 48 pounds (roughly 22 kilograms), but not as light as the other Dewalt products on this list.

For its affordability, we cannot speak much about the design, as it did not impress as highly. However, we are looking at this solely from a cost-effective perspective, and for that, we understand that Dewalt had to make a few sacrifices.

But for its lack of any notable design features, it provides with a fair bit of convenience. We loved the fact that it comes with a tool-free adjusting system. This feature allows you to adjust anything without having to use any tools.

You can also spot a dust-collecting port. However, as the unit is not fully closed, we feel that we could not entirely depend on the port to collect dust.

Leaving that aside, the safety features on the DW745 are splendid. The table saw provides you with a push stick, miter gauge, and a blade guard. We found that to be enough safety features to keep us safe.

We also found that the ease-of-use of the table saw is another plus point. With all the features, we recommend this tool for DIYers. For the professionals, we have the other incredible equipment on this list.

What We Like:
  • Affordable
  • Perfect for beginners
  • Highly portable
  • Lightweight
What We Didn’t Like:
  • The top plate is plastic made
  • Dust-collector port is not very necessary
  • Unimpressive design

Benefits of Using a Table Saw

This versatile type of saw includes a circular saw that is either mounted on a table or a bench. It operates via the assistance of an electric motor.

Here are a few reasons you should be buying one for your carpentry requirements.

Accurate Cuts

It is a reliable option when you want to get precise cuts on wood as opposed to other saws.

Speed

For big projects, you want to cut the wood as quickly as possible, and this is possible with a table saw.

Versatility

These machines can perform a variety of tasks with relative ease.

What To Look For Before You Buy

To select the best table saw under 500, you can take into consideration a few vital factors related to your preferred woodworking type, time spent on woodworking, budget, and the vacant space you have in your workshop.

Nature of Woodwork

If you are someone who does not spend a considerable amount of time working on wood, you may not require a powerful table saw. We would recommend going with the Dewalt DW745  for example, or some of the other portable saws meant for basic woodwork.

However, if you are a professional who spends a fair amount of time using the saw, you might need one that gives you power, durability, accuracy, and other features.

Also, consider this; if you are planning on working on a small DIY project, you might not even require a portable saw. There are other, smaller and inexpensive, forms of saws available in the market that will suit your needs just fine.

Ease of use

You do not want to spend a considerable amount of time working the intricate machinations of a table saw. The ease of use is another feature you should consider before making your purchase.

Do note this, the more time you spend setting up a table saw, the more features you are likely to get (though this is not always the case). On the other hand, if you are the kind of person who travels a lot with your saw, you might probably want to think about grabbing an easy-to-use saw.

Budget

We might not have to tell you how important this factor is. A bigger budget always ensures that you get some additional features.

We recommend that you compare the budget with the type of work you are doing. Many options in the market are relatively cheaper, but give you all the tools and features you seek.

If these features suffice for your woodwork, then you should probably consider the purchase.

Dust Collection

One of the woes that you will face when working with a table saw is that throws up quite a bit of sawdust into the air. The sawdust, once inhaled, can lead to respiratory problems.

You can always protect yourself by wearing a mask (which we recommend no matter the situation). What we also suggest is getting one with a dust collector.

Do note; a dust collector does not keep the debris away from flying. But it will maintain the quality of the air in your workshop.

Storage Space

Most portable models are made to fit into a small space. Even so, we think you should perhaps take stock of your inventory and the area in your workshop. You should do this so you can have the freedom of movement in your shop.

Remember, anything that restricts your movement or causes you to stumble is a potential hazard. Woodworking is a fun activity, but you could also easily suffer some severe injury.

Stay safe. Prevention is always better than the alternative.

Safety Tips to Follow

Speaking of safety, here are some essential points you should take note while working on a table saw.

  • Wear a dust mask, even if the table saw comes with a dust collector.
  • Put on your safety goggles or other similar protective gears such as face shields.
  • Avoid wearing dangling pieces of jewelry or accessories and ties, scarves, long sleeves and other forms of clothing that hang. If you are wearing long sleeves, ensure you fold them well enough that they don’t come loose.
  • We recommend non-slip footwear.
  • Do not line your body with the blade so that you avoid getting injured by flying debris, sawdust, or other materials.
  • Stand firmly on the floor in a comfortable position. Do not assume any awkward or uncertain position so that you do not fall into the blade.
  • Perform the work with attention. Do not distract yourself by answering calls, sending messages, or carrying conversations.
  • Never reach over or beyond the blade if it is still running. Stop the blade before you wish to extend yourself over it.
  • Use dry, seasoned, flat wood.
  • Do not adjust the fence if the saw is still running.
  • Ensure that you clean the table regularly so that you do not injure yourself with shrapnel, debris, and other small particles.

Most importantly, ensure you follow proper instructions before taking on any woodwork.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What kind of electrical circuit will my table saw require?
A: We recommend that you utilize a dedicated electrical circuit for your table saw. From our experience, most units use #14 or #12 copper wire with a 20-amp or 15-amp delay fuse.

Q: Should I use an extension cord as well?
A: Yeah, why not? We didn’t experience any problem with it. However, we suggest you use a good quality one in good condition as well. We might go far as to recommend buying a new one and avoid connecting your table saw to a cord that shows previous use, however minor.

Q: Can I use dado blades with the machine?
A: These days, most table saws allow you to use dado blades. However, please see the instruction manual carefully and consult with the manufacturer before such use.

Q: Is it necessary for me to use the stand?
A: Well, this totally depends on the kind of your work. Never hesitate to seek professional help in this matter to ensure you are working in a comfortable position. Do make sure that the work surface must have an 11-inch opening below the saw.

It is to make sure that sawdust does not build up on the surface, which could potentially cause a fire.

Q: Can my table saw trip an overload?
A: Yes, it can happen depending on the work you are doing. If you do not have a dedicated electrical circuit, this could happen.

Closing Thoughts

Now that we have provided you with reviews of some of the best table saw under 500, go ahead and pick your favorite one in the list. Remember that there is no substitute for safety.

Lastly, always look through safety guides for safe woodworking practices.
